Getting there and around

 
By train:
Bruges, on the important railway line London-Brussels-Cologne, is attainable by direct trains from various European cities.

By Plane:
Situated 30km from Bruges, Ostend-Bruges International Airport (or Ostend Airport) is not only important in relation to freight transport, but is also being used increasingly for passenger flights, especially charter and holiday flights.
Bus services to Bruges that connect with flights have an average journey time of 20 minutes into Bruge centre.
 
Brussels is an important junction in the international air traffic. Bruges is within easy reach (ca 1 hour). 
Regular trains (every half hour) between the airport and railway stations Brussels Centraal or Brussels Noord, from where several trains per hour to Bruges.

Public transport
The bus company De Lijn offers several passes to allow tourists to travel in an economical way through Bruges and Flanders. With a Daypass City you can travel without limits during one day in Bruges and the surrounding area.

Once in the city centre you probably wont even need public transport, as it really is very small and compact. All the main tourist attractions are within easy reach of each other and half the pleasure of visiting Bruges lies in wandering through its cobbled medieval streets.
